The D-Day museum in Portsmouth was the venue for a successful trial for the MyArtSpace project. On 16th January thirty school students explored the museum using mobile phones, to discover information about exhibits, take photos, and record audio and text notes. Photos and notes were sent automatically from the phones to their personal museum visit webspace. The technology (developed by The Sea, a UK multimedia company) worked well, the students collected evidence on whether the D-Day landings were a success or failure, and their teachers were delighted by their level of engagement. The LSRI is supporting a formative evaluation of MyArtSpace so that the project, funded by Culture Online, can be extended to other museums in the UK.
