Congratulations to Dr Ian Jones of the LSRI who has been awarded two recent grants. He has been awarded a five-year Research Fellowship from the Royal Society to investigate the mismatch between intentions and outcomes of the GCSE mathematics assessment system. He has also received a one-year project grant from the Esmée Fairburn Foundation (with Co-I's Camilla Gilmore, LSRI, and Matthew Inglis, Loughborough University) to examine a new computer-based approach to teaching the meaning of the equals sign.
